Repair & Troubleshooting
My garage door won't open. What should I do?
A garage door that won't open can have several causes: a broken spring, opener malfunction, blocked safety sensors, dead remote batteries, or a power outage. Start by checking the simplest things first — replace your remote batteries and make sure nothing is blocking the sensor eyes at the bottom of the door tracks. If the door still won't budge,
call us for a diagnostic visit. Avoid forcing the door open manually, especially if you suspect a broken spring.
My garage door is making loud noises. Is that normal?
Grinding, squealing, or rattling noises are not normal and usually indicate worn rollers, dry hinges, loose hardware, or an unbalanced door. These issues tend to worsen over time and can lead to more expensive repairs if ignored. We recommend scheduling a maintenance tune-up so our technicians can identify the source, lubricate moving parts, tighten hardware, and restore smooth operation.
How do I know if my garage door spring is broken?
Common signs of a broken garage door spring include: a loud bang coming from the garage (the sound of the spring snapping), the door feeling extremely heavy when you try to lift it manually, a visible gap or separation in the torsion spring above the door, or the door opening only a few inches before stopping. Do not attempt to operate the door or replace the spring yourself. Broken springs are under extreme tension and require a licensed professional to handle safely.
My garage door reversed before hitting the floor. Why?
When a garage door reverses before fully closing, the safety sensors at the bottom of the door tracks are likely misaligned or obstructed. Check for debris, spider webs, or objects blocking the sensor beam. Clean the sensor lenses with a soft cloth and make sure both sensors have steady lights (not blinking). If the problem continues after cleaning and realignment, the sensors or wiring may need professional repair.
Installation & Products
How long does a new garage door installation take?
Most single garage door installations are completed in 4 to 6 hours, including removal of the old door, track setup, and opener configuration. Double-wide doors or custom installations with special framing requirements may take a full day. We always aim to finish in a single visit so you're not left without a functioning door overnight.
What brands do you install?
We install doors and openers from the industry's top manufacturers including Clopay, Amarr, Wayne Dalton, C.H.I., and Raynor for garage doors, as well as LiftMaster, Chamberlain, and Genie for opener systems. Our technicians are factory-trained on each brand, which means proper installation and the ability to honor manufacturer warranties.
Are your garage doors hurricane-rated?
Yes. All garage doors we install meet Florida Building Code wind load requirements. For homeowners in High-Velocity Hurricane Zones (HVHZ), we offer Miami-Dade County approved doors with wind ratings up to 180+ mph. Hurricane-rated doors feature reinforced panels, heavy-duty hardware, and impact-resistant construction designed to protect your home during severe storms.
Do you offer financing for new garage doors?
Yes, we offer flexible financing options to make your new garage door affordable. Plans include 0% interest promotional periods and low monthly payment options. Ask your estimator about available financing during your free consultation, or visit our
contact page to learn more.
Maintenance & Safety
How often should I have my garage door professionally serviced?
We recommend professional maintenance at least once a year. During a tune-up, our technicians inspect all moving parts, lubricate springs and rollers, test the safety reversal system, tighten hardware, and check cable condition. Annual maintenance extends the life of your door, keeps it running quietly, and helps you avoid unexpected breakdowns that always seem to happen at the worst time.
Can I lubricate my own garage door?
Yes, basic lubrication is safe to do yourself. Use a silicone-based spray lubricant on the springs, hinges, rollers, and tracks every six months. Avoid using WD-40 on springs — it's a solvent, not a lubricant, and can actually strip away protective coatings. If you hear persistent squeaking even after lubricating, there may be a worn part that needs replacement.
Is it safe to replace a garage door spring myself?
No. Garage door springs — especially torsion springs — are under extreme tension and can cause severe injury or death if they snap during removal or installation. This is one repair that should always be left to a licensed professional with the proper tools and training. Call us at
(954) 206-1418 for safe, same-day spring replacement.
Opener & Remote Issues
How do I program a new garage door remote?
Programming steps vary by opener model, but the general process is: locate the "Learn" or "Program" button on your ceiling-mounted opener unit, press it, then press the button on your new remote within 30 seconds. The opener light should blink to confirm pairing. Check your owner's manual for model-specific instructions, or
call us and we'll walk you through it over the phone.
My opener light flashes but the door won't close. What's wrong?
Flashing lights on the opener typically mean the safety sensors at the base of the door tracks are misaligned or detecting an obstruction. Look for blinking sensor indicator lights — one or both sensors may have been bumped out of alignment. Remove any debris near the sensors, clean the lenses, and gently adjust them until both indicator lights are solid. If the issue persists, the sensor wiring may need professional attention.
Can I control my garage door from my phone?
Yes. With a WiFi-enabled garage door opener and the myQ app, you can open, close, and monitor your garage door from anywhere using your smartphone. You'll also receive real-time alerts when the door is opened or left open. We install LiftMaster smart openers with built-in WiFi, or we can add a myQ smart module to many existing opener models. Ask us about smart garage door upgrades during your next service call.
